Junior Asparagus

Type of vegetable, fruit, etc.: Asparagus

First Appearance: Where's God When I'm S-Scared?

Junior enjoys being the star of many of the stories on VeggieTales, although Larry and others sometimes steal the spotlight. Junior made his first appearance while watching the classic horror film, "Frankencelery" in "Tales from the Crisper." After that, Junior went on to star in "God Wants Me to Forgive Them?!?" as a young asparagus who has to learn the lesson of forgiveness. He also starred in (or played smaller parts in) "Are You My Neighbor?," "Rack, Shack, and Benny," "Dave and the Giant Pickle," "Larry-Boy and the Fib From Outer Space," "Josh and the Big Wall," "Madame Blueberry," and "The Toy That Saved Christmas." He expects to stay with Big Idea for a long time.

Filmography:

Where's God When I'm S-Scared? (1993): Junior is scared after watching "Frankencelery" on TV, until Bob and Larry show up with surprise guest Phil Winklestein (the actor who plays "Frankencelery"). Together, they help Junior understand that God is bigger than any "boogie man," even the dreaded slime monster!

God Wants Me to Forgive Them?!? (1994): Junior learns that forgiveness is an important lesson to learn when some rowdy grapes give him a hard time in "The Grapes of Wrath." Junior also tells the Scallion "salesmun" that God will forgive you over and over, with no need for the advertised "Forgive-O-Matic."

Are You My Neighbor? (1993): Junior is the Good Samaritan in the retelling of the Biblical parable in the "Story of Flibber-O-Loo." During "The Hairbrush Song," Junior stuns Larry by asking him why he needs a hairbrush when he doesn't have any hair. Finally, in "The Gourds Must Be Crazy," Junior helps Bob and Larry save the U.S.S. Applepies from impending doom by enlisting the help of Jimmy and Jerry, the "odd" newcomers to the ship.

Rack, Shack, and Benny (1995): Junior is Shack, one of the three boys who know they should stand up for what they believe in, even if it results in a near-death experience! He also saves Larry from Bob's wrath when he sees the opportunity for a Kodak moment with a cucumber in "authentic Argentinian garb!"

Dave and the Giant Pickle (1996): Junior has the title role as Dave, who starts out as a lowly shepherd and becomes a hero when, with God's help, he defeats Goliath.

The Toy That Saved Christmas (1996): Junior, along with Larry and Bob, help Buzz-Saw Louie find the true meaning of Christmas and spread it to the inhabitants of Dinkletown. They end up in a cliff-hanging (literally!) climax.

A Very Silly Sing-Along (1997): Junior appears in several of the songs, including (but not limited to) "The Dance of the Cucumber" and "Stand Up!"

Larry-Boy and the Fib From Outer Space (1997): Junior finds out that just a tiny fib can turn into a great big lie! As Junior tells little fibs, Fib just keeps growing, until he is a huge monster who decides it's his turn to call the shots. Larry-Boy arrives to save the day, but finds out that even he can't stop the lie! Can anyone stop the monster Fib? Junior finds that he holds the key to stopping Fib by telling the truth.

Josh and the Big Wall! (1997): Since Larry, still tired from his heroics in the previous video, is sleeping, Junior helps Bob co-host the show, as he and Bob use their imaginations to travel back to the time when Joshua defeated Jericho. Junior also is there to watch Larry's stereophonic, multi-media event, but is slightly disappointed by the outcome. Also, look closely at those slides: on the one where Larry is at the airport, Bob is being swept away by the baggage belt, and stuck to him is a stamp. On the stamp is (who else?) Junior!

Madame Blueberry (1998): Even though he can't get the train set that he wants from Stuff Mart, Junior remembers to be thankful for what he has, and ends up helping Madame Blueberry learn a very valuable lesson.

Silly Sing-Along 2: The End of Silliness? (1998): Junior appears in several of the songs, such as "Big Things Too." He also appears in the "Yodeling Veterinarian of the Alps" as he brings his pet penguin, Harry, to see the famed pet doctor.
